Technical Ecstasy - Black Sabbath: I'm just another back street kid Rock 'n Roll music is the only thing I really dig Can't stop the music going round inside my head I'm a rock 'n roll soldier, gonna play it until I'm dead Nobody I know is gonna take my rock 'n roll away from me Sitting in the back seat of a shiny limousine Living in a taxi can't remember where I've been Playing my music, sitting in my hotel room Writing about the stars and thinking about the hand of doom Nobody I know is gonna take my rock 'n roll away from me Living life comes easy if you know which way you're going Got to see yourself in other's eye's, surprised? Living like I want to don't come easy, but I'm trying Sorting out what's true and what are lies, it's wise Brought up in a back street living with the salt of the land Seems that now my music's paying off my tax demands So listen to the music, want to see you get so high 'Cause I'm a back street rocker and I will be till the day I die Nobody I know is gonna take my rock 'n roll away from me

June 2001 Many children on the streets in Berlin have escaped unhappy homes and abusive family relationships. Many have escaped unhappy homes and abusive family relationships: "Here you can disappear - go unnoticed". Others are sucked into the streets by their addictions: "I get up late, drink what's left of the beer. I stated taking pills when I was eleven, I was injecting when I was thirteen...", says a young girl. "The hygiene isn't great. There are lots of skin diseases going round... And I know loads of people with AIDS and Hepatitis B". Apart from all the obvious dangers to their physical health, social workers fear street kids are subjected to extreme psychological violence -- that is even harder to overcome. On the streets children can't avoid being exposed to people who make a living by dealing drugs or prostitution. One girl who finally managed to quit the drugs and get off the game says " Living on the streets you either sink or swim. You have to be tuff to survive. Like me".

British Charity, The Colour of Hope, works to reduce poverty, advance education and promote employment among disadvantaged people in Peru. Our current priority is to help young people leaving care homes in Lima, Peru's capital city. Most of these young people have previously been street children, suffering from physical and psychological abuse, extreme poverty and drug addiction. Once they grow up, they're forced to leave their care homes, find a job and start supporting themselves, but the difficulties they've suffered, lack of support from their families and insufficient financial resources make this almost impossible. Many end up right back where they started -- on the street. The Colour of Hope supports these marginalized and disadvantaged young adults as they leave their homes. We help them to integrate into their society and to find dignified employment. We give them a chance for change. Please contact us if you want to learn more about The Colour of Hope and our projects or if you're interested in sponsoring a young adult, holding a fundraiser, making a donation or being a volunteer in Peru. Please help us to provide a chance - a chance for change. info@thecolourofhope.org http://thecolourofhope.blogspot.com/ http://www.thecolourofhope.org/

A film based on a conversation with street children in Kenya about the use of drugs and a A timely window into the lives of Nairobi's street children who roam the city, beg and then numb themselves with solvents. But it's their flashing eyes, rather than the subtitles, that tell the real story as they peer into the unblinking lens, knowing that on the other side lies a glittering world they will never enter. Three years ago Huy, Tung and Nang were living at orphanages and on the streets of Saigon. Now the youths from Vietnam are earning their own money and even managing to save a little. They're apprenticing to be confectioners and head chefs in Brussels. It's all part of a project run by Xavier Mouffe, a former master baker. After they've completed their three year apprenticeship the young men are to return to Saigon, help to train their countrymen and find work in hotels as pastry chefs.
