Google Tech Talks November, 13 2007 ABSTRACT Yahoo!'s Exceptional Performance Team has identified 14 best practices for making web pages faster. These best practices have proven to reduce response times of Yahoo! properties by 25-50%. They focus on the front-end, for example, why it's bad to use "@import" for including stylesheets and why ETags disable browser caching. In this talk I'll go in-depth on these best practices and the research behind them. I'll also demonstrate YSlow and do some live performance analysis of popular web sites. (or maybe just unfamiliar with what an opera singer or opera company is). - Bath Opera is an amateur opera company staging a small number of productions a few times each year. - Paul has performed in just 4 four productions with this company - Paul has attended some masterclasses in Italy. These courses are designed for talented amateurs. All of these are paid for by those attending. - A few masterclasses, even one with the great man do not constitute "a formal opera training" by any stretch of the imagination. - Professional opera singers earn their living by treading the boards night after night week-in week-out, year after year with professional opera companies. - Paul, has never earned a single penny from opera performance, other than winning a tv talent show in 1999 - the winnings funding masterclasses. - Paul has not performed since 2003. - He is not a professional opera singer pretending to be a mobile phone sales man, but rather he is a mobile phone salesman aspiring to be an opera singer. - An operatic voice IS a trained voice. Hmmmm, perhaps if I can buy a few classes at a pro cookery school, I can pass myself off as a highly experienced pro chef.....hmmmmm.....
In Glengarry Glen Ross, Alec Baldwin plays the character Blake, almost earning Baldwin an Oscar for the role. The salestalk presented is one of the finest ever, allthough sarcastic, it contains the foundations of a well meditated salesmen.

Kellie Pickler, America's small town sweetheart, sings the song she co-wrote about her mom who left when she was two. This is one of Kellie's best performances ever of "I Wonder." The Country Music Award audience gave a standing ovation after Kellie tearfully spoke the words, "I'm in Tennessee." Kellie's little brother Eric was crying as Kellie's best friend from Albemarle held him up so he could see his big sister above the crowd. Words can hardly describe the emotion that night. Ironically, Fox 8 in High Point, NC aired an interview with Kellie's "missing mom" Cynthia Malone on their 10 pm broadcast, just as Kellie was about to go on stage live in Nashville. NOTE: The lady introducing Kellie is Kimberly Williams-Paisley, star of "According to Jim" and wife of country singer Brad Paisley. Kellie opened for Brad's recent tour. Excerpts from MAB's "Performance" DVD recorded live at his studio called "Monster Mix". MAB is using a Marshall JMP-1 and a Marshall valvestate, miked, off to the side of the stacks for this DVD. He also did this in his "Star Licks" and "Speed Kills" DVDs. Those are his Marshall stacks, used by him in concert but they were used in this program only as a backdrop.
