  1. Jakobah Says:
My choice for best tenor ever. Legend has it that he was murdered by the Mafia for not fulfilling some performances promised to them.
  2. KARAYAN Says:
All I can say is .......phenomenal tenor. He was truly blessed with such talent. He lives on through his music though he left this world so early. Mario Lanza remains a yardstick for many musicians who have burst unto the music scene. Thanks for uploading this amazing piece. Mihaela
  3. ABDUL-HAQQ Says:

What a voice! such a range Mario Lanza is the greatest!
  9. IDA Says:
Discussing whether Lanza belongs in the pantheon of great tenors always strikes an emotional chord, but let's face it, he was great but not great enough to be on the same playing field of Caruso, Gigli, Bjoerling, Corelli, Pavarotti, Domingo etc.
  10. Gypsy Says:
Mario Lanza, un grand ténor !!!! Il a bercé toute mon enfance, et je me souviens quand il est décédé en 1959 (j'avais 5 ans, toute la rue pleurait et moi aussi
  11. Arlene Says:
You may want to mention his lack of physical commitment, his horrid weight fluctuations and jet set lifestyle that led to his early death..He was hated by all of the effete snobs of the opera world.Just like the great Babe Ruth, Lanza broke all of the rules, didn`t have the linneage or elite training. No, he just had the best voice and best performances of all!He was the Babe Ruth of his field!
  12. ISI Says:
    man i love it!..
  13. YUEYAN Says:
Whenever one hear Lanza's voice you ponder what might have been had he the patience and commitment to study. Clearly, Lanza had the most developed tenor voice in his twenties of any tenor in the classical world with the exception of Bjoerling who was singing Radames at 24! However, to the trained ear he relied too heavily on his natural gifts and his technique was often sloppy. He seldom covered his passagio from the middle to the upper register leaving his notes wide albeit booming.
  14. Earlena Says:
There was no voice as powerfull as his ever again...... He beat Caruso by a mile. Lanza was an inspiration to many of today's singers.
  15. Jolleen Says:
Thanks CriscoDisco, I of course admit he had an outstanding voice, but for some we find it a bit winy, over the top. He made great movies not great opera.
  16. Laila Says:
reef your entitled to your opinion, but you have to admit the man had immpressive pipes
  17. Adrian Says:
It was the style at the time, wasn't it...
  18. KRASAVA Says:
Overblown. Lacks the control of a Domingo...over the top when not necessary. Almost hysterical!
  19. Vale Says:
easily he was a movie star, I know of no opera company he sang with very long...I have the right not to like his voice, give me Tagliavini.Melchior or even Tauber. Try reading his life crapface, his death is still a mystery.
  20. Donal Says:
You're a bit of a dumbass aren't you. How can you listen to this and make a statement like that. Sorry but you're just plain deaf n dumb. No one sung this better than Lanza, the video speaks for itself, loud and clear.
  21. WEKESA Says:
Sorry to disagree with all you folks, but I dont like his voice at all. He never made it in Grand Opera, M.G.M ruined what voice he had. This is just my opinion,
  22. MOSI Says:
I was just searching for some of the songs I did when I was in Taiwan in Chinese :) found this vid~ awesome :)
  23. Lacey Says:
Lanza really did have a fabulous voice!
  24. Devent Says:
Born Alfredo Arnold Cocozza in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was exposed to opera and singing at a young age by his Italian immigrant parents!! bravissimo!! se bastasse una bella canzone!
  25. DRUMMOND Says:
This is the onlyversion that brings tears to my eyes
